Summary

Jack Ryan, Jr。, will do anything for a friend, but this favor will be paid for in blood in the latest electric entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling series。

Jack Ryan, Jr。 would do anything for Ding Chavez。 That's why Jack is currently sitting in an open-air market in Israel, helping a CIA team with a simple job。 The man running the mission, Peter Beltz, is an old friend from Ding's Army days。 Ding hadn't seen his friend since Peter's transfer to the CIA eighteen months prior, and intended to use the assignment to reconnect。 Unfortunately, Ding had to cancel at the last minute and asked Jack to take his place。 It's a cushy assignment--a trip to Israel in exchange for a couple hours of easy work, but Jack could use the downtime after his last operation。

Jack is here merely as an observer, but when he hastens to help a woman and her young son, he finds himself the target of trained killers。 Alone and outgunned, Jack will have to use all his skills to protect the life of the child。

After a long time, a readable book in this Tom Clancy Jack Jr。 series。Attention to detail, decent plot, and not too much American propaganda

The suspense kept me turning the pages even when I needed to sleep。 Excellent read。

Yes, it's a work of fiction, but Jack Ryan's efforts at the end are more than a bit far fetched。 Easy summer read, but I've read better books within the genre。 Yes, it's a work of fiction, but Jack Ryan's efforts at the end are more than a bit far fetched。 Easy summer read, but I've read better books within the genre。 。。。more

This was ok, but I think I’m not as big a fan of the Jr centric series as the bigger ones。 They just aren’t as expansive as I like out of the Ryan universe。 2。5 for me

Incredible and Unbelievable does’n describe it。 Impossible to believe and not credible。 Bentley is a better ghostwriter than Maden though, so the writing is better to stomach。

A quick entertaining read, Jack Ryan Jr。 becomes ridiculously indestructible in this outing and makes quite a number of crazy decisions。 The biggest howler is how the best intelligence services (ally and enemy alike) on the planet faced with Ryan and knowing his name is jack Ryan never cotton to the fact that he is the presidents son。 I am waiting for this to become a plot point eventually in one of these books - but I keep reading them despite these criticisms - as they are still great escapist A quick entertaining read, Jack Ryan Jr。 becomes ridiculously indestructible in this outing and makes quite a number of crazy decisions。 The biggest howler is how the best intelligence services (ally and enemy alike) on the planet faced with Ryan and knowing his name is jack Ryan never cotton to the fact that he is the presidents son。 I am waiting for this to become a plot point eventually in one of these books - but I keep reading them despite these criticisms - as they are still great escapist fun。 。。。more

Good book, fast paced, exciting。 I’m not a fan of super short chapters and thought the ending was fairly abrupt, but I still enjoyed it。

Typical Jack Ryan story。 Lots of action, but the hero prevails。

#31 in the Jack Ryan Universe - #1 by Don Bentley。 This 2021 series entry is workmanlike and enjoyable but nothing especially outstanding - but for the character of F35 pilot Daisy Smith。 The plot revolves around Jack Jr。 doing a favor for Ding Chavez and performing a routine surveillance in his stead。 As is the norm, no good deed goes unpunished and during the surveillance Jr。 sees a crime about to happen and he inserts himself into an international shit storm。 A quick read。

I wish I could give negative stars! Smh, here is another author that shouldn’t be allowed to write any of Clancy’s books! Yikes。。。this guy shouldn’t be writing at all。 VERY poor writing skills (I seriously wonder how it made it through to publication), would repeat sentences over and over trying to convey that Jack Jr was not only the President’s son but also a super commando。 I struggled to read this book and had to continually force myself to keep reading hoping it would get better (it doesnt) I wish I could give negative stars! I was extremely disappointed to learn that Mike Maden was leaving as a legacy author for the Clancy franchise, but with "Target Acquired" Don Bentley has shown himself to be a worthy replacement。。。In "Target Acquired" Jack Jr。, as a favor to Ding Chavez, gets an all expense paid trip to Israel, in exchange for a couple hours of easy clandestine work, that accidently exposes a huge Iranian effort to destroy Israel, when he observes an American scientist and her young son being targeted by assassi I was extremely disappointed to learn that Mike Maden was leaving as a legacy author for the Clancy franchise, but with "Target Acquired" Don Bentley has shown himself to be a worthy replacement。。。In "Target Acquired" Jack Jr。, as a favor to Ding Chavez, gets an all expense paid trip to Israel, in exchange for a couple hours of easy clandestine work, that accidently exposes a huge Iranian effort to destroy Israel, when he observes an American scientist and her young son being targeted by assassins。。。From the simple act of saving the pair, a huge international thriller emerges。。。。Good Stuff。。。More Please! 。。。more

Another worthy addition to the Jack Ryan Universe series。 Jihadists, Israeli spies, and Jack Ryan, Jr。 in the wrong/right place at the wrong time, depending on how you interpret the circumstances。 He is on a routine surveillance mission when he observes an attacker coming toward a woman and her son and his instincts reflexively kick in。 He thwarts the attacker, but his reward for a good deed is the basis of the story。 The plot is interesting and has plenty of the Clancy-esque twists to keep your Another worthy addition to the Jack Ryan Universe series。 Jihadists, Israeli spies, and Jack Ryan, Jr。 in the wrong/right place at the wrong time, depending on how you interpret the circumstances。 He is on a routine surveillance mission when he observes an attacker coming toward a woman and her son and his instincts reflexively kick in。 He thwarts the attacker, but his reward for a good deed is the basis of the story。 The plot is interesting and has plenty of the Clancy-esque twists to keep your interest。 It's hard to believe the bad guys don't recognize the son of the American President, but then that might get in the way of the story。 I've read all the books in the Jack Ryan/Jack Ryan, Jr。 universe and while this is not my favorite and is a well crafted story。 Maybe a few implausible coincidences along the way, but I won't spoil the story here。 。。。more

As someone new to Jack Ryan, Jr。 or Sr。, this was a fun story that reads like another superhero-military special-agent story。 Pretty much what I was looking for, although it did feel very。。。 simplified when it comes to Israel vs。 the rest of the Middle East。 Written to feel like an action movie, with many two-page chapters trying to build fast-paced scene switching tension。 Could have easily forgotten this wasn't Jack Reacher。 As someone new to Jack Ryan, Jr。 or Sr。, this was a fun story that reads like another superhero-military special-agent story。 Pretty much what I was looking for, although it did feel very。。。 simplified when it comes to Israel vs。 the rest of the Middle East。 Written to feel like an action movie, with many two-page chapters trying to build fast-paced scene switching tension。 Could have easily forgotten this wasn't Jack Reacher。 。。。more

So, you know how, in the first “Iron Man” movie, Tony Stark fights another armored baddie and gets roughed up some? Does the series proudLoaded with action! So much that at times a willing suspensions belief is required。 A “Cracking Good Read” as they say。 When you start reading make sure your seat belt is fastened。

New author to the Jack Ryan universe, Don Bentley really brought it with this one。 Absolutely loved it。He jacked the action right up both large and small scales, in true Tom Clancy style。 I’ll definitely be checking out more works by Bentley。

Jack Jr goes dark and alone。 Tel Aviv is a beautiful city。 I will need to check out Don Bentley’s other books。

'Target Acquired' is the best Jack Ryan book published since 'Clear and Present Danger'! There, that clear enough? Don Bentley musta channeled Tom Clancy in his early writing days to put together an action packed thriller like this! I've written 30 action novels and it's almost impossible to get the right give and take between competing subplots, but Bentley nailed it so well it was a freaking nail biter! How much did I like this book? As soon as I finished it I dropped it off at Mike's, a fellow action adventure junkie, for immediate reading。 I will admit that, other than most of Africa, Bentley picked the three most dangerous locales in the world to base this novel。 First we get to experience the almost subliminal paranoia of Tel Aviv, where Jack Jr。 goes to grade a practice espionage maneuver, only to spot a woman and her child about to be attacked by an assassin。 He manages to thwart that attack but is arrested by Shin Bet immediately after a Hamas rocket explodes close to them。 By the time he shakes free of Shin Bet, finally revealing his identity to the Defense Minister, Becka and Tommy, the woman and child, have been kidnapped and taken to Beirut。 Of course Lebanon is Hezbollah's playground, but there are other players, including the Wagner Group, a mercenary outfit of former Russian SVR assassins, and they're doing contract work for the Islamic Republic of Iran's Quds Force Commander, Farhad Ahmadi。 A third party in the mix is the IRI Ministry of Intelligence and Security, MOIS, and their uber-spy, Darien Maradi, is on the trail。 It's damn relevant that the IRI's Supreme Leader's angel of death, Qasem Soleimani, recently died badly when a serious POTUS had him incinerated。 In this book Ahmadi doubles down, enlisting Jihadists as well as the MOIS to do his bidding。 The game changer is the devout Imam Mahdi Husseini, who plans to force the US back into the sands of the Middle East by lighting off Armageddon from his Syrian desert outpost。 A dozen IRI Hoveygeh cruise missiles loaded with a deadly toxic nerve gas are being prepared for their flight to Tel Aviv。 And he might have succeeded if a US Special Forces unit was not already deployed around his reinforced desert compound。 I would say that Jack Jr。 suffers as many wounds and damage as Mitch Rapp did in his most unlucky days。 Matter of fact, Don Bentley's almost turning Jack Jr。 into Mitch, an agent who summons possibilities in the face of certain death。 Jack's opponent for the most part is MOIS uber-agent Darien Maradi, an Iranian who looks Caucasian because he is half-American。 Of course Darien is assisted by the Russian black widow Katerina Sidorova, so the opposing deck if fairly well stacked。 In the nick of time a USAF F-35 pilot saves Tel Aviv while a joint SEAL and Sayeret Matkal team find and rescue the hostages。 Of course this does not happen smoothly, but at the last second of the window of doom in every case, so the nails never stop getting bitten reading this book。 Get it and read it and see if I'm not right! 。。。more

I love it (up to the laughing part) when one person takes on all of the bad guys and beats them all with no planning and little weapons。 This was an interesting story until Jack was kidnapped and then the story turned to make believe。 Please, for once give an honest and accurate appraisal! Please!!
